Hi,
If your PC came with a recovery CD, you cannot use it to
repair the OS, instead, it will format and re-install the
OS clean; it means that all data files will be lost.
If you have a XP CD, you cna boot from the CD and select
to perform a repair install of XP. But anyway, I would
suggest you to backup your important files before the
repair for just in case.
