Internet Explorer problem

Was having problems using IE, had to shut down 3 times
and send error message. Received message advising
download IE 6 service pack 1. Went to the download and
read- custom installation not available for WindowsXP. I
am very new and not sure if I am understanding correctly.
Is this download something that I need or waste of time?

The service packs are generally never a waste of time, they almost always
address known bugs, and fixes them. Download whatever it will let you. Be
forewarned though the problem you may be having might not be fixed by a
service pack, but it's worth the shot.
