Word 2002 takes 20 sec to load and quite awhile to
close. It is part of Microsoft Works Suite. Other
programs load very fast. I have Microsoft Office 97
Professional and use Excel every day. Excel loads
quickly. I have 512 MB SDRAM, a 1 GHz AMD Duron Morgan
CPU, a 10GB 7200 rpm HD. I have unistalled Microsoft
Works Suite as well as the Office 97 a number of times.
Cleaned the registry and defragmented HD after
uninstalls. Reload --- Word 2002 still extremly slow.
Techs say that I must reformat the HD. Would a repair of
WinXP do just as well? I do not want to format unless it
is the last option. Please offer suggestions. Any idea
about what is happening? Note: The same Works Suite was
loaded on other systems with WinXP and it works fine.
