I was curious if on Disk Cleanup I removed the
compressed old files, considering that they take up a
large amount of space, would this affect my computers
performance and/or affect programs ability to run and
import data?

Checking Compress old Files does not delete anything.
It tells Windows to compress files that have not been recently used.
They will then take up less space since they have been compressed.
However you are better off not using that option:
