Formatting hard drive

I have heard , after a while you should re format your
hard drive. i got win xp a few years ago. But there has
been so many updates,and i was wondering can you get a
new up dated copy of win xp, get a cd of all updates that
has came out, or just redown load all updates all over
again from windows updates.

Please help.

Reformatting should NOT be done unless absolutely necessary and with good
reason. CD's with SP1 is available at microsoft. I'm sure after SP2 is
released 4th quarter this year a CD with both SPs will be available.
