View Full Version : What printer to buy

I have a new computer with lots of ram and everything. It has Windows XP
and is a Pentium.IV. I have 1 gb of memory.
I want a printer/scanner - one that I can put a media card in and print from
it and it to be good. I want it to be good with photos - print fast and not
be an ink gussler like my Epson CX4600. The one I have been looking at most
is the Canon MP760. It is getting excellent reviews from Amazon. I don't
where else to go for reviews. I tried to go to PC.World, but the page
wouldn't open. Can anyone here give me advice on a good printer. If not,
send me to a spot where I could get honest revies. I am not looking to spend
more that $250. Thanks alot.

A client of mine just got the MP780 (she needed the fax capability) and is
more than delighted with it. Canon ink is very reasonable.

My recommendation is to first check on the price to buy replacement
ink/toner cartridges first. If the cartridge are expensive, you should
reconsider.

Also, it is better to buy a color printer where each color can be replaced
separately. No need to buy/replace colors that do not need to be replaced.

In my 18 years of owning computers I have owned 3 Canon Printers.........and
not Canon top of the line models.
Every one of them has served me well, have reasonably priced ink, print great
and never ever gave me any problems.
At the present time i own an MP 370 and it does an excellent job with
photos/scans and photo copying.
I have owned this unit for just over 2 years and no problems.
I for one recommend Canon

Good lord, what's with the recent proliferation of posts over "what
piece of hardware should I buy?" posts. None of this really has to do
with XP as the OS and problems related to how it deals with hardware.

These posts should be directed elsewhere.
