So slow in cancelling/deleting print documents

situation:

I'm using HP DeskJet 810c --- my problem is, everytime my printers jams.. as soon as i clear the jam, the printer problem will start.. the printer will not stop blinking and it will start printing weird characters..

my solution is: i CANCEL the documents being printed because as long the document is in "printing" status.. it will not stop printing 'unusual' characters

the REAL problem:

It took so long to cancel or delete the documents being printed... sometimes it takes more than 10 to 20 minutes! You know how it feels to wait 10 -20 minutes if you are in a hurry.

When i'm still using Windows 98, CANCELLING print documents is done in seconds!

I'm using Windows XP Professional now...please help me. Thanks

hmm... what i asked was how to cancel documents in just a short time... bcause in Win98, it takes only seconds.. while on XP, more than 10 minutes..

it seems the problem in my pc is unique... and i have to deal w/ that.. :(

CyberJake,

I have just learned that I should ask at home first if I have a printing
problem.

My dear wife has spoken!! She has found that if you cancel a print job
(double click on the printer icon in system tray) and then let the printer
finish the page it is on, XP will remove the job from the print list fairly
quickly - don't turn off printer.

This is the best we have found for us.
