Hello, i'm trying to install my Lexmark Z12 printer.
So i install the software that goes with the printer. Thats no problem. Now obviously i can't start printing pages from the internet or Word without the OS identifying the printer. I go to control panel then click on Printers and Faxes. I click on the Add a printer button but nothing happens. I keep clicking and its like its not even there but it does highlight when i move my cursor over it.I click on the button below it which is set up faxing and that works fine. I click the troubleshoot buttons and thats fine. So i'm kinda confused why its just that button not working.
I've looked through the help and support center and nothing really shows up with the problem i am encountering. I do click on "I can't install a local printer" but thats talking about stuff that happens after clicking on the "add a printer" button. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks, Mark

Well, i did as you said. I logged in as an administrator and went to command prompt and typed in net start spooler but it said that the requested service has already been started. So i go back into printers and faxes not knowing if it worked. I click on add a printer and still nothing happens. Any new suggestions?

Go to the Lexmark website (www.lexmark.com) and download the drivers from
there for the Z12.

Ok, i downloaded the CJ2012SE driver from the Lexmark website. I unzip it to a folder. I look at the readme file and says Lexmark System Driver
Date: August 7, 2001

Please close all applications before installing the driver.

This driver can only be installed through the Windows Add Printer Wizard.
Click UNZIP on the next screen to extract the driver files.

Choose OK to continue with the Self-Extraction Program...

The problem is that I can't enter the Windows Add Printer Wizard. The add printer button still doesn't work, so in order to install this driver it seems like i have to get that button working.

Go to the Lexmark website (www.lexmark.com) and download the drivers from
there for the Z12.

I asked some poeple i know. Some say it maybe a specified module might not be found? I don't know if that helps but hopefully you can find a solution.

Use the original installation CD that came with the printer. Do not plug the
printer in until told to do so. When it asks you to plug it in you can
redirect
it to the newly download driver to install. Right now you'll need to
uninstall
what you've done.
