duplicate files

When I go to SEARCH and tell it to find all videos,
music, and pictures, after it is finished, I see that I
have duplicates of everything! I'm afraid that this is
eating up twice as much memory as I need. Can I just
delete one of the files and keep the other without
damaging my system?

File do not use memory unless they are opened. Files use hard drive
storage space. Make sure these are actually files and not shortcuts
to the files.
