In Security Center, the status light shows XP firewall as on but the control
button shows it as being off. I need to turn it off as it is blocking my
access to Norton LiveUpdate. Please Help.

Hi,

To completely disable the firewall, you can do this:

Start/Run ==> services.msc

Find "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" in the list.

Double click on it. Pres the Stop button if it have status Started.

Then select Disabled in the Startup type drop down list. Press OK.

I have the same problem, and I tried following those steps and stopping that
