View Full Version : XP load failure

My Sony VAIO will no longer load XP (for Home) when i turn
it on. I get an error message that says

lsass. exe uable to find component

Windows is unable to load because

If I click ok, I get a blank screen with a dashed line at
the bottom. Over time the line becomes full (like the
screen you used to get with 95 and 98 on a hard drive
check). A Windows loading screen will appear but windows
never loads. Then the computer resets and starts over.

I do not have a copy of XP, except for what is on the Sony
recovery CD.

At this point I assume I will need to run the recovery CD
in order to rebuild the component, but was wondering if
there is another way. Could I buy a copy of XP upgrade (or
the full XP) and run the recovery process and rebuild just
that file? Or do I need to be in windows to do that?

Is there some other way to recover to windows. I just
bought this machine new a few weeks ago and I don't want
to re-install all the software I have added, if I can help
it.

Thanx

Paul
