My windows xp will not do a system restore. No matter
what restore point I pick. The system will go through all
the things as if it is going to but after it reboots and
comesw back up it will say unable to restore. I have
tried all the restore points as far back as I can go with
no luck. I have a compaq 2715us laptop bought in april of
2002.

Steve;
You probably have corrupted data in System Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes all Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.
