Recovering old back-ups

Can anyone show me how to recover old MS3.x and Windows 98
back-up disks using XP.Have tried EVERYTHING.Thanks

Gerry;
Back-ups created on Windows 9x are not compatible with the Windows XP
back-up utility so they can not be restored with Windows XP.
You can restore the data on another computer then copy the data to
this computer.
