25 digit product serial number

i am trying to do a reformat of my hard drive. I got to
the step that says enter your 25 digit product serial
number for windows XP. Unfortunetely, I can not locate
the windows xp book with the certificate on it. Is there
any way, I can pull that number off my computer. or will I
have to contack Mircrosoft to get it.

If you have already reformatted your drive, it is too late. Before
you go through the drastic step of formatting your drive, you should
make sure you have everything necessary to get your computer up and
running again. If Windows XP is still running on the computer,
there are several program which will reveal the CD key to you.

If you've formated the drive already you'll need to call Microsoft Customer
Service.

If XP came preinstalled on your PC, chances are high there's a sticker on
the side or the back of the case which is the COA with the product key
written on it.
