I just loaded the latest MS security patch and now my OS
won't start. I get an error message saying that it can't
find something called "AssocIsDangerous" in a dynamic
link library called SHLWAPI.dll.

Then it says that it cannot find the DLL.

What do I do?

Mario;
I suspect there is spyware or possibly a virus.
Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Choose Safe Mode.
Go to System Restore and revert to a time before issue started.

Otherwise
Reboot again tapping F8,
Choose "Last known good configuration"

Run an updated virus scan.
Or Scan for Viruses online:

Run Ad-Aware (free version) or Spybot to check for spyware:
http://www.lavasoft.de/ (Update if you already have it)
Or
http://spybot.eon.net.au/ (Update if you already have it)
