TrueImage cannot create recovery CD

After installing TrueImage 8.0 I tried to create some recovery floppies and a CD

Creating the floppies was no problem. However when I inserted a new ReWritable CD
TrueImage requested me to insert an empty CD into my CD burning drive.

But: I already inserted an EMPTY medium.
Even when I erase all (not existing) content and tried the operation again
TrueImage told me the same. Changing to another empty RW-CD yields no success.

It seems to me that TrueImage needs a preparation of the CD before putting the
recovery files on it.

Or alternatively it only likes write-once CDs.

Could someone confirm this assumption?

What else can I do to let TrueImage burn the recovery files on the CD?

The CDs I inserted are all working. If I burn something else (with Nero) it works
without any error.

Ditch the rewritable CD's. They are slow and notoriously unreliable (almost
as bad as floppy disks, in my experience). Go with CD-R's. They're less than
25 cents each, and much more reliable.

I've never used the application you mention, but I did want to offer my
opinion on using CD-RW media.

It sounds like the application is looking for a blank CD-R, not a
formatted/clean CD-RW. If you have a blank CD-R, try that.

To wriye to CD-RW or DVD-RW True image needs a third party packet
writing software installed,True Image 9 (not yet released) won't have this
need.
Install this and try again.

I can tell you that it worked fine for me with a CD-R. I haven't
tried a CD-RW. Logically I think you want a write-once medium for
disaster recovery - you want to eliminate all possibility of
accidentally writing over it.

As for the first point you mentioned, I have occasionally noticed
that when I put an empty CD in the drive before starting Acronis,
the program ejects it and demands an empty CD at the point in the
backup sequence where it is about to start writing. I think that's
just a quirk of the program -- you're not supposed to insert media
until you're ready to use them.

Anyway, try a CD-R and it ought to work for your disaster recovery
disk.

Just for emphasis: the above is absolutely correct. The RW disk needs
to be formatted/erased using something like Nero's INCD or Roxio's
Drag-to -Disk. If I'm not mistaken, this step is not necessary on
subsequent use with True Image if the disk wasn't written on by another
product in-between.

I have No problems using RW disks simply by using them blank and after
use I can always blank them and use them again. Consequently I rarely
use CD-R disks because I do a lot of development work where even at $.25
the cost becomes prohibitive.

Hello, Frank!
Try to use the next tips to solve your problems:
- Eject any disc from the burner prior to starting the application;
- Proceed until the program asks for a disc and opens the tray;
- Insert a disc and then click the "Proceed" button to close the tray
automatically as well.
If that doesn't help then I would recommend you to update third party
CD writing software if any to the latest version available for free on
its respective web site.
Also note that you should use a blank unformatted CD-R or CD-RW in
order to create a bootable rescue disc.
As for me, I prefer to ask for support. I've been using True Image for
a long time, so I got some really helpful and quality advice in short
time. If you'll have any problem with Acronis make a request to

You didn't notice the note at the bottom? 'requires third-party DVD
