View Full Version : Slow logon to unavailable domain

When I log on to a domain either by cable connection or wireless connection,
WinXP loads immediately. However, when I log on to the domain when there is
no actual connection to it, WinXP can load instantly or can take up to 5
minutes (during which the laptop appears to be completely inactive -- no HDD
access, etc). There seems to be no pattern to it and I have checked for
malware, etc, and have checked startup info via MSConfig.

The time lag only started after I had logged on wirelessly for the first
time -- before this there was never a delay. Now it does it even when the
wireless network connection (Intel(R) Pro/Wireless 2200BG) is disabled. All
the drivers are up to date, however, and I can't find any documented problems
between XP and the Intel connection...

Many thanks in advance.
