Microsoft was court ordered to take out the Virtual
Machine(a program that lets users run applications
written in the cross-platform Java programming language)
from it's SP1 update, that is now the SP1a. To get the
Microsofts virtual machine, you can down load it at the
Microsofts web site.Sun Microsystems makes its own Java
program reader called JRE(Java runtime environment) that
is newer than Microsofts JVM.You can get that at
http://java.sun.com Also at one time there was talk
of putting this all back in a new update called SP1b, I
have not checked to see if this happened yet.So to awnser
your question, if you need Java, download Java and leave
SP1 alone, you do not want to mess with it!....Good luck.
