I am using Messenger 7.5 and I get no sounds when a contact signs in or when
an
event occurs.
In the sound properties the group "msn" is listed, I see the "sound icons"
but the string
to the sound file is missing, online the name like -alert.wav- appears, not
the complet
string of the folder where the sound file is located.
I can however add sounds, the sounds are working when I try them out
manually, but not when an
event occurs, like new email or when a contact signs in. The pop up window
telling me that one of my buddies has just logged in, is also not appearing
anymore.
I deinstalled, reinstalled and repaired messenger already several
times, I even repaired my !whole! win XP installation, still no sounds,
still
no pop up window. What else can I try? Any ideas?
Did I perhaps delete a registry string?
Thanks for trying to help.
