A slight annoyance.

Whenever I open a new IE window, and use the pull-down arrow for the
previously visited web sites, I have a long delay (>10 sec) before it
displays the sites. After it finally displays the list all is ok i.e. the
pull-down arrow works on demand.

I have searched the newsgroups for similar issues but found none. Anyone
experiencing this or able to offer a solution.

XP pro
IE 6.0.2800 SP1, xpsp2

Sounds like it is trying to automatically trying to configure a proxy to me.

Open ONE INSTANCE of Internet Explorer.
Click on TOOLS -> Internet Options -> Connections tab -> LAN Settings button
Uncheck the "Automatically detect settings" checkbox.
Click OK
Click OK
Close Internet Explorer.
Reopen Internet Explorer.
Try now.. Better or no?
