Fragments

When I defrag I am told I have a lot of fragments which
cannot be contiguous. Thery seem to be left overs fron an
earlier Windows installation. Can anyone recommend a
software program (preferable free to download but
otherwise not too expensive) which will clean up the C
drive and rid me of all these unattached and unneeded
fragments?
