View Full Version : start computer from CD-ROM drive

i am trying to do a repair install. i believe i need to
first startup my computer from the CD-ROM drive with the
XP disk inside. i tried hitting "esc" upon startup but
it does not call up my BOIS. i'm confused on what to try
next

Different computer manufacturers do it differently.
Common keys are: F1, F2, Delete, Esc as well as others.
Power on computer and there should be a message similar to "Press **
to enter set-up"
Check your motherboard/computer manual or contact the manufacturer.

Hi, db.
Tell us the make and model of your computer and somebody here will recognize
it and tell you which key works for that model to get you into the BIOS
(Basic Input/Output System). Or watch for instructions on the FIRST screen
when you turn on your computer. Or read your owner's manual.
