From Two Partitions to One

On one of my computer I have Windows 98 with one hard
drive and two partitions. I want to upgrade from Windows
98 to Windows XP Home Edition. I want only one partiton,
but I would like to maintain all the data (drivers, etc.)
on the C drive without losing the information. Whatever is
on the D drive I do not care what happens to the data. I
have backed up all my files. I do not want to do a clean
install. How do I go about doing this? Thanks.

The only way you can delete, create, resize or merge existing =
partitions,
and not harm your existing Windows installation, is to use
a third-party partitioning program, such as Partition Magic 8
(www.powerquest.com).

You can not change the partition structure of your drive with
native Windows facilities. To do this, you need a third-party
program such as Partition Magic or Boot-It Next Generation.
