Does re-installation erase?

Would re-installing windows xp erase all the data I
already have? And don't answer with the link to the in-
place upgrade document because I've already read that.

If it's a retail editon of XP, no it won't erase everything if you do a
Repair Installation.

If it's a System Recovery CD supplied by your manufacturer, yes it will
restore the PC back to the condition it was in when it left their
manufacturing depot.
