Windows XP had a virus BkdrTrojan and can't use most of my machine

This virus installed an Unwise.exe file into the windows
directory and after deleting the file that contained the
virus I can't use most of my stuff everytime I click on
something it comes up with a window that says could not
open ISTALL LOG FILE.exe. I don't know how to get rid of
this thing and get my computer back to normal I can't use
most of the stuff I want to use any more and I just about
want to just pitch this thing out the window. Can any one
out there help.

Which virus was it?

If you know the virus name - look at this link for removal
instructions/tool:

Likely it will be listed there.

It installed or infected the UNWISE.EXE file?
Have you rescanned your system for more instances of the virus?

(It sounds like it also put something in your startup.. do this: Start ->
Run and type in "msconfig" (without the quotes) and click OK. When that
window shows up - look under the STARTUP tab and see if there is some things
there you think shouldn't be - like it trying to run that particular file.)

Yes I tried all that and still no luck I have even gone in
and redone the registry file to an earlier period
everything I can think to do many of the things I can't do
as it will come up with the window I am talking about and
can't go any further. The virus name is bkdrtrojan and I
have rescanned and the virus is gone but it leaves you
with the problems I am talking about.
