View Full Version : DOS Window Will Not Display Full Screen

On a new Dell, DOS will open and run well in a window but
cannot be expanded to full screen mode through any method
including alt-enter. Screen goes black with small white
text in center screen "CANNOT DISPLAY THIS VIDEO MODE".
Dell appears to be stumped by this although they say
they've heard it before. I'd like to try a fix before
returning the computer. Thanks.

The following procedure may resolve this:
- Switch to Windowed mode by pressing <Alt><Enter>=20
- Right-click on the title bar of the window=20
- Select "Properties" from the menu=20
- On the "Layout" tab, set the Buffer and Screen Height settings to 25=20
- Press "OK"=20
- Select "Save properties for future windows with same title"=20
- Press "OK"=20
- Switch back to full screen mode by pressing <Alt><Enter>=20
--=20

Thanks for the suggestion Nicholas. I've tried this fix,
except for changing the buffer to 25, to no avail. I'll
try changing the buffer and see if that does it.

Create a shortcut from the command.com or cmd.com and right click to
properties. Then select the Options tab
and change the display options to full screen.
Just remember when you want to leave the full screen the syntax to type is
the "exit" command.
