How can I force a delete of a registry key?

My problem stems from a "prepped" laptop that will not
save passwords. the KB suggests deleting the key beneath
my Protected Storage System Provider, but no matter who
I'm logged in as (Administrator) or even in safe mode, I
get an error message stating that "Cannot delete .....key
here....: Error while deleting key."

I can create & delete a key in the branch. Tried
exporting and reimporting the key, etc. Any other great
ideas? I'm close to reimaging the drive, but I'd rather
beat this bear just because.

Try this, right click on the key, select permissions and make sure you
have full access checked.

Nope, that's not it.

I have full permissions, including to the parent key.

No matter what, I can't delete this key so that I can
have Outlook Express automatically save my password for
my POP account.

What else might cause XPPro to not save the login info
inside of OE?

Did you have Outlook Express running while you try to edit the
Registry dealing with the program? Was the key under HKCU or some
other branch?
