I'd like to create an ASR disk for my sytem. I have XP
Home Ed running on an Intell P4, 2GHz.
According to the instructions under "Help and Support",
to do this you go to: All Programs:Accessories:System
Tools, and there is supposed to be a "Backup" utility
option. My menu shows "System Restore" but no "Backup"
utility option. What the deal here? - How can I create an
ASR disk.
I've also tried doing this in Safe Mode, but there is
no "Backup" option there either.
Thanks,
jd

JD;
NTBACKUP is not installed by default in windows XP Home:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q302894
If Windows XP is OEM, you may or may not have these files.
Also see:

Also, ASR is not available with Windows XP Home, it is a feature of
Windows XP Pro.

By default the backup is not installed on 'Home Edition' It should be on
your CD which you can load. If you do not have a CD the manufacturer on most
systems provided a means to extract and install it from yoir harddrive. I
have heard however Sony PC's do not have it on their hard drives.
