an 'Access Denied' message when I try to rename my folders
(My Documents etc., which has already changed names once
since the reinstallation...). All my docs & files are on a
separate drive where I can still create & change new
folders but not change the names of the ones I created
before a few days ago - I can still change the folders
inside these though.

permissions have not carried over to the new hard drive

to "take ownership" of the folder and all the sub-folders
in the drive where you are having denial of access. Go to
properties|advanced|owner of the parent folder on the
drive and set youself as the owner.

Well, sort of... I haven't been denied access totally - just to rename the
folder (and I've already re-named it from 'My Documents' to 'Chris' New
Documents'. I can still access and change any of it's contents though. This
applies to three or four of the seven or eight folders on that partition but
the remainder are quite normal!

I just don't understand... (!?)

Cheers,

Chris

P.S. I looked for the Owner tab or button in Properties/Advanced but I
haven't got one - just four options for archiving/indexing and
compression... I'm missing something here aren't I?!
