I originally bought my Dell Inspiron 8100 (Windows XP Home
factory installed, 1GHz, 512 MB RAM, Matsu****a UJDA330
CDRW Drive in the Modular/Removable Bay) machine in Dec
2001. For the first 6 months, I had no problems with
burning CDRs from commercial music CDs or from MP3 files.
However, I have been unable to successfully write a
complete disk for the last year or so. I do not receive
the buffer underrun errors that appear to be so abundant
on this board. I am almost always able to complete a CD
recording with NO ERROR MESSAGES. However when I play back
the CD (in my DVD drive, CDRW drive, or home stereo), the
last 3 tracks always seem to be corrupt. They either skip,
have choppy/inconsistent playback, etc. It sounds like the
result you would get when playing a disc with scratches
all over it.
I have already tried the following solutions:
Tried several brands of CDR media
Have used 4 burning programs (Nero, Roxio Easy CD 5, Dell
Musicmatch, and Windows Media Player 9-)- All have had the
same result
Burnt CD image to the hard drive first, then copied it to
the CDR
Burning with the "Disc-at-Once" option
Uninstalling & Reinstalling the drive
Please, does anyone know what this particular problem
could be resulting from? I'm confused as to why this is
only happening to the last 3 tracks each time (usually
begins after 65 minutes have already been burned on the
CD). Any and all feedback is much appreciated.
