Assuming you want to reinstall Windows XP, don't use the diskette
you created. Just boot from the CD and follow the prompts.

IF you want to use your boot disk instead of the XP cd at the command prompt
use fdisk and delete the non dos partition after that create a partition
then reboot.

Now at the command prompt again use format but remember this will only let
you format into Fat32.

Personally you should use the XP cd as it will give you the option for Fat32
and NtFs but again if you want a fat32 size over 32gb then the dos disk is a
must.

You must make sure that fdisk and format are on the floppy. If you need to
partition you will need fdisk to prepare the drive with an active partition
and any extended partition if you want more than one on the drive.
Otherwise, normally you would just boot and type format c: and follow the
direction.

It would seem that you are not familiar with the HDD format procedure.
Before you commit yourself I suggest you go to www.google.com and search for
"format". You will find some excellent articles on the fdisk and format
procedures that I think you find invaluable.
