multiple opening of same document

When I open a office document stored on a 2000 server, it
seems the same document opens multiple times. Sometimes it
opens the doc as many as 4 or five times. what's going
on? Any ideas?

Are you double-clicking on it 4 or 5 times, while you are waiting for it
to open?
