suspend mode not working properly

when i put my dell insperion 4100 into suspend, it seems
to start by itself, that is the cpu usage is at 100% when
i turn the computer back on. than of course the unit is
very sluggish, and i have to reboot. there are not
applications shown.

this problem started after a new hardrive, and
reinstallation of XP
