If you had your hard drive reformatted (swept clean), then all programs,
files and data were erased. Did you not create a backup of your files
before having your hard drive "swept clean"?

"We had our computer swept cleaned"
Depending on what you meant by that - you are likely out of luck.
I am guessing you mean you had "the computer formatted and reinstalled",
"Restarted from scratch", "the hard drive erased and the operating system
reinstalled", "destructive restoration", "put in the restoration CDs",
etc.. Any of that sound familar?
Who did your "computer sweeping"? If it was someone else, did they happen
to ask you if you had backups? If you had all your files off the computer?
Etc.. If it was you - did you have backups? Had you copied your files
elsewhere before the "cleanup"?
Basically, going by the idea I got and presented above of what *I* think you
mean by "We had our computer swept cleaned." - you lost every file, every
program, everything you had installed and everything you created unless you
had burned it to CD, floppy diskette, zip disk or any other external storage
media.
Sorry if you did not expect that - if this is the case, but usually before
someone does a destructive restore like that they warn the end-user or the
end-user has warnings written on the utility CDs or doing the process, etc.
