Printers and Faxes Error - Unable to view Printers Installed

I am unable to view the installed printers on my computer using the printers and faxes window or option. I can print from word to any of this printers. I cant make changes in their properties or either add new printers. It is very weird because when i click in the add printers icon nothing happens. My OS is Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2. If someone can help i will be very pleased. Thank you!! :o

You'll need to reinstall the printer drivers. Recommend you start from
scratch with installing the software first. DO NOT connect the printer
until told to do so.
Uninstall & reinstall Printer

yes. it starts becuse i am can print from many app. ALso my scanner is not working.
