Expressing my appreciation to Gerry Cornell, (MVP), for solving my
unsolvable problem. I posted this:
"Usually happens on boot up but usage will suddenly go to 100% when no
programs are running. Stays there until I reboot. Task Manager indicates
System is using 95 to 98% when this happens. I have restored the system 3
times and the problem goes away for up to 24 hours. Problem started soon
after I did a bunch of Windows XP Updates. Microsoft KB doesn't offer any
help. TIA."
Gerry gave me the answer:
You May Experience Performance Issues After You Install the 811493
(MS03-013) Package on Your Windows XP SP1-Based Computer

This was one of the updates I installed but would never have found the
article without Gerry's help. Thank You!
