Installing printer

I am trying to install Epson CX5200 on Windows XP - 2.6 processor and 1
Gbyte RAM.
Printer shows up in Printers and Faxes - but Printer Properties will not
show.- therefore cannot check driver.
CPU usage is 98-100% and the whole thing hangs. The CX will scan to file -
so USB connection must be working.
I am told it is to do with spoolsv - but if I try to halt this process I get
a window saying 'Printer properties cannot be displayed'.
Hope someone can help!

Uninstall it completely..... then ensure you have updated drivers from the
Epson website and try a new install....

Thanks - just tried all that - same result! - even with the latest driver
from Epson!

Are you logged on as an Administrator?

Do you have all updates and service packs installed?

Is there any indication in the Event Viewer (Control Panel, Admin Tools,
Event Viewer)?

Thanks for your help
1 - yes, I am logged on as administrator
2. Am wary of this - each time I try to download updates the computer
crashes when trying to install! SP2 IS installed.
3. Don't really understand Event Viewer - seems very complicated! Sorry!
