Samsung CLP-550N Connectivity

I have a samsung clp-550n color laser printer. when i connect it to my XP Pro
box , a dialogue bubble pops up saying the device is not recognized. this
printer had been working fine for the past 8 months. i have installed no new
software nor have i made any hardware changes. i have tried numerous drivers
from samsung. i have tried every usb port on my machine.

i am running xp pro sp2.

anyone know of any major conflicts? or issues with sp2 and the samsung
printer? could it be NAV05?

any help or advice would be appreciated.
