Strange 5.1 speaker setup problem (Not a driver problem)

Please help.

I have 5.1 surround sound speakers and a SB Live! 5.1
digital output card. I have made sure all my settings say
digital output and checked for mutes and low sound
settings in all 3 places. what seems to be missing is
that even though I have set the sound to 5.1 in the
control pannel it resets to pc speakers (just left and
right channel). Ans when I go in to set the speaker
volume on the sounds and audio devices control it only has
a left and right control. Is something broken here?

You need to install SB live software, namely audio HQ. Try downloading from
sblive website.
