I know, I know, the system is old as dirt, but it has served me well. I have
a Celeron 667mhz processor, 512MB RAM, a 17GB hDD, and had Windows XP Pro SP2
installed.

I reinstaleld SP2 and now the Graphics controller gives the error code 41.

It does not give an error message when running in safe mode, but does in
regular mode. At any rate I can't change the monitor settings.

HEELLLlPPPP!!!!

I've been through that. Downloaded the latest version from Intel's web site.
And it still comes back the same Code (41) error.

Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers? Did you check Compaq's
website (now www.hp.com)

I ended up reinstalling Windows XP Pro to a different directory, and
re-installing all my apps. Then after I had the system stable, I upgraded to
XP SP2. Everything is working fine, including the Intel (4) 81082E Graphics
Controller.

Oh well, glad you got it working. Remember to defrag the drive after
installing SP2.
