Windows Messenger and Firewall (Easy question)

Windows Messenger seems to think it has a "direct connection (no firewall)"
even though I connect to the internet through a D-Link NAT Router (which
supports uPnP).

Is that correct? What does your say?

Greetings,

That is correct -- this indicates that Windows Messenger is connected directly on port 1863
(an outgoing connection -- your router should have no effect). This indicator will only
change if you're behind something blocking that and it needs to use port 80.

MSN Messenger on the other hand, will notify you if you're behind a UPnP device however.
