View Full Version : Sharing a printer

I have 5 users that use a poorly written piece of software that has
virtutally no support available. (We are going to replace it but for now
it'a all we got) All the pc's are XP SP2. They share a local printer. It
works for all the programs (Office, etc.) with the exception of this special
software. Does anyone have any ideas what could be stopping it from
printing? It worked fine on the 98's. Are there any settings that might
stop it.

The above may be of some help. The first issue is to get the program to
print to a printer attached to the same PC. (If that's where the printer is
connected.)

Possibly the firewall if you have it installed.

It does print fine from the computer that the printer is attached to. And
the firewall is off (I have my own) otherwise the software will not connect
to the server which is provided by the software company. The program is a
windows program. The software company doesn't have a lot of experience with
XP although they say they have the same setup on several XP's and printing
works fine.
