blue stop screen

After installing Norton Systemworks I began getting the
blue stop screen at intervals. Tried using GoBack and
various other fixes without luck. Uninstalled the
Systemworks but it still left stuff here and there. Went
in and deleted the folders but some files won't go away -
they come up with an error message (cannot delete ....).

Decided to try an repair with the original XP disc but the
hard drive is not recognized and the program asks if I
want to install XP on the selected partition - which is
the size of the hard drive but does not find the C:\

Have defragged, disc cleanup, and other quick fixes to no
avail. Any suggestions would be more than welcome.
Really want to do the repair if I could get past the
unrecognized drive.
