I suddenly cannot install any printer drivers on one particular windows xp
machine. If I try to install a network printer it doesn't pull the driver
down from the server, and if I try to install the driver manually I get a
message stating "printer setup error: cannot create a file when that file
already exists". If I go to printers and faxes, then go to File>server
properties, and then try to install just the driver (no printer) it gives the
same message. I have tried serveral different printers and the all give the
same message.

Additional information: in the setupapi.log file (in C:\windows\) there are
entries for the driver files being copied followed by "#E249 Failed to apply
security to file" and "Error 1307: This security ID may not be assigned as
the owner of this object" I am logged in as a local admin.

Please help.
