I bought the Microsoft I E 6 service pack 1 and it refuses
to install with the message that it has encountered a
newer version of I E 6 and must end???

I have reloaded windows XP (the HP version) twice and this
problem remains. A persistent symptom is that it cannot
run the online help from AOL and IE 6 does not appear in
the programs list in the ADD OR REMOVE SOFWARE function
of the CONTROL PANEL. I have been wrestling with this for
3 months now (HP wont help because the computer is 15
months old and out of warrantee A WARNING TO POTENTIAL HP
BUYERS)

Paul;
AOL uses a modified version of Internet Explorer.
Perhaps reinstalling AOL or upgrading to the latest version of AOL may
resolve the issue.

Your warning means very little.
All companies stop warranty support after the warranty has expired.

Otherwise, maybe this can help;
