Windows XP - hangs in Explorer & "Save As"

XP hangs when I open Explorer
"C" drive is available but it takes several minutes for
the other drives to appear.

When I try to "Save As" XP hangs for several minutes
before all drives etc are available to save the document.

Any help very much appreciated - this is extremely
frustrating.
