Printing Problem

I am running XP Pro and use a HP 5550 printer. After using the printer with another computer I find that when returned to the original computer I am unable to print from WORD or PUBLISHER. The test print from the computer works fine, but I am unable to "connect" with normal programs. I jave removed and reinstalled the printer but still no luck.

All suggestions gratefully accepted!!

From Word are you using File Print and then selecting the Printer or using
the print icon on the toolbar?
