I just installed sp1a yesterday and now my computer won't
power down - it hangs somewhere at the end of "Saving your
settings" - anyone else have this problem?

I tried updating with SP1 back in January, encountered
this very same problem and then rolled back the system -
which fixed the shut down problem, but I lost many
services (like VPN, which Microsoft acknowledges is a
problem with rolling back a service pack).

Sometimes I won't be able to shut down if certain USB
devices are plugged in - but this seems to be a problem
regardless of the USB issue.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I am wondering if there is any conflict between the power
saving options on the BIOS vs. XP - but that's a random
guess - it all worked fine before.
