How do I get XP to stop replacing files I don't
want...like extra screensavers, netmeeting, etc...?
Somehow the files show up again after being deleted. I
can't find a simple setting that says STOP THAT!!

So you want to remove some of the Windows components that are installed by
default?
Take a look at this tweak http://www.mvps.org/ecvogel/kb/XP_remove_progs.htm
does that tweak uninstall everything?
To uninstall Windows components not covered by the above tweak, i'd suggest
searching Google for references to that program and say 'windows xp remove'.

thx martin, I'll check - but I meant this:

I delete the scr files I don't want and returning to the
directory, the files I delted are there again. There is
some type of auto-restore I am trying to shut off...this
is for a simple scr file, not even an exe as the
example....

System File Checker.

Open a Command Prompt and type

sfc /?

for use and syntax notes.

I'll leave it to you to search for how to disable it, but before you do
remember that it has a purpose...

Looks like you need to reverse engineer a system file to turn it off.
