START-UP PROBLEM

Hello Everyone,

I'm working with XPSP1, and I have had a strange problem
that occurs every 2 weeks or so - My PC refuses to boot
up, and the screen that appears is the one that prompts
if I want to start: safe mode, safe mode with networking,
last known good configuration or normally.

It gives me approx. 30 seconds to decided, and if I do
nothing it defaults to 'normal', and it will subsequently
begin the 'process' all over again. When I hit 'last
known good configuration', it still does not work -
Finally, I'll go to 'safe mode' and restore to an earlier
setting upon such time everything appears normal again
for another couple of weeks or so.

When this occurs, I'll usually do a complete check disc,
etc. to attempt to clean up the issue (this may be why I
get another 2 weeks or so before the problem recurrs.).

Can anyone shed light on this??
